We at Rajah take pride in ensuring our spices are sourced sustainably so it’s only right we give back to the communities we source from. Since 2018, we have been supporting the Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) through SEWA RUDI Brand to sustain themselves in the Surendranagar and Patan districts of Gujarat, India. Through SEWA, we are empowering and helping over 2,000 women farmers to build sustainable livelihoods for not only themselves, but also for their families.
We contribute 5p from each participating pack purchased to the SEWA programme. Participating packs include: Rajah Chilli 100g, Rajah Jeera 100g, Rajah Dhaniya 100g, Rajah Haldi 100g, Rajah Garam Masala 100g.
Our initiative helps women farmers gain practical skills and tools to become self-reliant. They participate in agricultural training on how to increase their yields, whilst reducing production costs. Additionally, financial training is provided, which helps them open bank accounts, manage their finances and provide alternative income streams via micro-enterprise schemes. In turn, they also have access to a sustained and reliable market for their crops. It is our priority that women farmers become better equipped to protect themselves and their families.
